BAKU, February 5 (RIA Novosti) - President Ilkham Aliyev of Azerbaijan, who arrived in Moscow today, holds pleasant memory of the time when he was studying in this city. In an interview with RIA Novosti ahead of the visit, Mr Aliyev described the years he spent in Moscow as lovely. The new Azeri president, who has replaced his father to the post, graduated from Moscow's State Institute of International Relations (MGIMO) in 1982.

"I am glad I studied in that institute and I am grateful to institute professors who helped me become who I am," said President Aliyev.

MGIMO was a good school to the Azeri president as he was taught diplomacy and the history of international relations. Moreover, "we were taught political science, although there was no such thing (in Russia) in those days. We were taught to analyze events, which helped me a great deal, played a crucial role in my life," said the 42-year-old president.

He said he was looking forward to visiting his alma mater. The president's speech in MGIMO is prominent on his Moscow visit agenda.
