MOSCOW, February 4 (RIA Novosti) - Almost half of the Russian federal authority bodies' functions are to be abolished or revised, Mikhail Dmitriyev, one of the top officials at the economic development ministry said on Wednesday, while summing up preliminary results of the work by a commission on administrative reform. The commission was recently established on Russian President Vladimir Putin's order.

In the words of the deputy minister, as of today, the commission has analyzed 4,100 out of 5,300 functions of federal authority bodies. Out of the analyzed functions, 20% were found excessive, 8% redundant and another 15% "requiring specification", Dmitriyev said.

In his words, the abolition and specification of the state's functions will demand the introduction of changes into some 400 normative acts, including 160 laws and 13 codes.

By the present time, the economic development ministry prepared 58 draft laws on amendments of the existing legislation. These draft laws relate to 108 abolished or revised functions of state bodies, said the deputy minister.
