MOSCOW, February 4 (RIA Novosti) - Russia is interested in signing a long-term agreement with Azerbaijan on the transit of Azeri oil, Russian Energy Minister Igor Yusufov told journalists Wednesday.
In his words, talks about this are underway.
"We could, like other CIS countries, sign such an agreement without fixing the volumes and tariffs, so that it would be convenient and could be supplemented with annual protocols on specific technical parameters," Yusufov emphasized. He recalled that such 15-years agreement is concluded between Russia and Kazakhstan.
"We were sure that the Russian pipeline system will be loaded with certain volumes and for a certain period; in this case Azeri oil would have a guaranteed outlet to Mediterranean ports and Europe, using our transit," the minister said.
"We are very interested in this," Yusufov emphasized.
