MOSCOW, FEBRUARY 3 (RIA Novosti) - Russia and the European Union will very soon begin talks related to the supply of natural and enriched uranium to Europe, Vice-Premier Viktor Khristenko said.

"The EU member states have got the mandate for talks with Russia on the import of natural and enriched uranium to be supplied to the European market of nuclear energy," Khristenko said.

The sides will now switch from consultations to talks, he said. "The talks will begin immediately and we would like them to end before May 1," Khristenko said.

He noted that before the end of 2004 Russian and EU experts are going to outline the sides' advance towards the common energy community.
