PETERSBURG TO HOST RUSSIA-CIS ECONOMIC FORUM IN JUNE

ST. PETERSBURG, February 3 (RIA Novosti) - The 8th Petersburg Economic Forum (PEF) will take place on June 15-19, 2004, Secretary General of the CIS Inter-parliamentary Assembly Council Mikhail Krotov told journalists on Tuesday.

"The level of this main Russia-CIS economic summit is expected to be more representative than in 2003," Krotov said.

According to him, President of the International Monetary Fund, Director General of the World Intellectual Property Organization, Director General of the World Trade Organization and some other top representatives of international financial and business circles have already confirmed their participation in the forthcoming forum.

The plenary meeting will focus on two issues - "Economic growth and living standards in the conditions of globalization" and "Russia and the European Union: outlines of the common economic space." The congress of CIS businessmen sponsored by the Russian and CIS Chambers of Commerce and Industry and Unions of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs will be held as part of the Petersburg Economic Forum, Krotov said.
