MOSCOW, February 2, 2004 (RIA Novosti correspondent) -- Russia's Central Election Commission has registered the presidential candidacy of incumbent President Vladimir Putin. Presidential elections in Russia are due on March 14, 2004.

The decision came after the information contained in the subscription lists forwarded to the Central Election Commission on January 28, 2004 along with other documents was verified.

According to a plenipotentiary representative of Putin's support group, 600,000 signatures from 84 federation members were randomly selected for verification.

As a result, 1.16 % of signatures were found not corresponding to the Russian election lawegislation. But these deficiencies were purely technical, said the representative.
