MOSCOW, February, 1. (RIA Novosti Correspondent). Russia welcomes UN initiative on the fight against AIDS and supports Global Coalition on Women and AIDS, Galina Karelova, vice-premier of Russia, said.
The Executive Committee of the Coalition will held its seating from February 1 to February 3 in London.
Karelova reminded that a task-oriented AntiHIV/AIDS program is under way in Russia.
AIDS cases have been reported from all the Federation subjects of Russia. There were 264,462 HIV infected people including 7,691 children registered in Russia as for February 1, 2004. 817 people including 193 children are officially registered as having AIDS.
