MOSCOW, January 31 (RIA Novosti correspondent Olga Lipich) - Russian pilgrims in Saudi Arabia are praying for peace and prosperity in their country, Head of Russia's Council of Muftis (RCM) Ravil Gainutdin said on Saturday.

"Today is the last day of pilgrimage to Islam's holy cities of Medina and Mecca. Among the three million Muslim pilgrims currently in Saudi Arabia there are 5,500 Russian Muslims who are praying for peace, stability and prosperity in Russia," the Mufti said.

On behalf of the RCM and the heads of regional Muslim organizations he congratulated Russian Muslims on the forthcoming great Islamic holiday, the Muslim Feast of Sacrifice or Id-al-Adha, known in Russia as Kurban-bairam.
