    MOSCOW, January 30, 2004. /RIA Novosti/. Ukrainian President Leonid Kuchma and chairman of the Russian Audit Chamber Sergei Stepashin discussed further development of cooperation between Russian and Ukrainian control bodies.

    They gave special attention to these issues, reads the press release of the Russian Audit Chamber.

    In addition, Kuchma and Stepashin discussed several practical aspects of cooperation between CIS control and audit bodies.

    The sides pointed out that cooperation between state control bodies of the Commonwealth of Independent States boosts integration processes in the post-Soviet space and helps to combat corruption and money laundering.

    Sergei Stepashin is to meet with Ukrainian Defense Minister Yevgeny Marchuk, Prosecutor General Gennady Vasilyev, chairman of the State Tax Service Yuri Kravchenko and chairman of the Ukrainian Audit Chamber Valentin Simonenko as part of his visit to Ukraine ending on January 31.
