MOSCOW, January 30th, 2004 (RIA Novosti correspondent) - The Prosecutor General's Office should exclusively supervise legal issues and nothing else, Russian President Vladimir Putin said at an extended board of the Russian Prosecutor General's Office.

"There should be no interference with economic or any other aspects whatsoever," said the Russian president.

He added that over 30% of 3 million crimes were not solved in Russia last year. "This means that punishment inevitability has not become a norm yet," said the head of state.

"At the same time, we should not ignore the statistics. There should be no hysteria. We should know the objective picture, and react adequately," said Putin.
