"Russia and the Baltic states should find joint solutions of problems hampering our progress," Arkady Volsky said at the opening ceremony of the economic forum "Russia and Baltic States in Europe".
"I welcome political sovereignty but economic sovereignty is absurd," Volsky noted.
In his words, Russian-Baltic economic cooperation meets Russia's interests.
The restoration of Russia's historic links with the Baltic States will boost Russia's integration into the EU trade sphere, Volsky said.
The volume of transit of Russian goods, in particular, via the Baltic States, has recently grown by 1.5 times, he noted. Over 300 Russian firms work in Latvia, Lithuania, and Estonia. According to Arkady Volsky, "in addition to the existing projects, there are new interesting proposals which can boost Russian-Baltic economic cooperation".
