Against the background of the peaceful change of power in Georgia Georgian leaders made statements that cast doubt on Tbilisi's intention to settle the conflict by peaceful, political means and on Tbilisi's adherence to its international obligations, reads the statement Abkhazian President Vladislav Ardzinba circulated on Wednesday.
The new Georgian President, Mikhail Saakashvili, is known to have said after a meeting with the UN Secretary General that the world community must approve of whatever steps Georgia would take towards Abkhazia, as the world must be on Georgia's side, recalls the statement.
Despite such a position of Tbilisi, some countries, above all the United States, render massive military support to Georgia, which cannot but worry Abkhazia. These countries' officials say this will help Georgia settle the dispute with Abkhazia by military means.
