GREEK DEPUTY FOREIGN MINISTER IS OPTIMISTIC ABOUT BILATERAL RELATIONS

MOSCOW, January 28, 2004. /RIA Novosti/. Greek Deputy Foreign Minister Ioannis Magriotis presented a draft of the program of further development of bilateral cooperation in Moscow on Wednesday.

This draft is based on three main principles: the regularity and high of contacts and consultations, flexibility and productivity, he noted.

"In my viewpoint, the atmosphere of present consultations fully meets these demands," Magriotis stressed.

On his part, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Razov noted that today Russia and Greece boast a highly favorable political climate giving all the necessary conditions for the development of bilateral relations in all spheres.

The Greek Deputy Foreign Minister pointed out benevolent attitude of the Russian authorities to the project of the construction of Burgas (Bulgaria) - Alexandropoulis (Greece) oil pipeline. Magriotis also spoke about the necessity to discuss several debts, which emerged as a result of mutual purchases.

The Greek Deputy Foreign Minister does not rule out the simplification of visa regulations with Russia.

According to Magriotis, he thoroughly examined the relevant Russian-German agreement and sees no reasons preventing to make a similar agreement between Moscow and Athens.
