RUSSIA CONTINUES INCREASING OIL PRODUCTION

MOSCOW, January 27, 2004 (RIA Novosti) - Russia's oil production in 2003 grew by 11% against 2002 to make 421 million tons, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Viktor Khristenko told journalists.

"We actually reached the projected figure of 418-420 million tons," he said.

Out of the total volume of the produced oil, 190 million tons underwent domestic primary refinery, and this is an increase of 2.6% on the previous year.

226 million tons were exported, with 35 million of them delivered to Belarus and Ukraine, Khristenko pointed out.
