MOSCOW, January 27th, 2004 (RIA Novosti) -- The United States is ready to render Russia financial assistance for the withdrawal of its military bases from Georgia, US Secretary of State Colin Powell said in an interview with the Ekho Moskvy radio station.
We discussed this issue with Russia, but we do not have precise figures to cite now, Powell pointed out.
I was impressed by the openness with which we discussed this issue with the Russian leaders, the US Secretary of State said.
Colin Powell also stressed that the United States was ready to financially help the new Georgian government, and was going to give it $166 million already this year.
