MOSCOW, JANUARY 26 (RIA NOVOSTI) - At talks late last week, Russian acting minister for industry, science and technologies Andrei Fursenko and president of Intel's Russian office Steve Chase pondered the possibility of housing production of Intel electronic components in Russia.

The ministerial press service said on Monday that "the talk is about printed circuit boards and products on their base - telecommunications and network products, expansion cards, PCs and laptops, servers," reads the Industrial Ministry's press release.

Chase said that now Intel accounts for 85 percent of Russia's processor market. What is good for our company will be good for the Russian economy, he said.

According to Chase, 90 percent of production of such components is now concentrated in Southeast Asia and the total cost of work is exceeding one billion dollars. Locating production in Russia, Intel will redistribute the ratio in favor of the Russian economy, Chase explained.

Fursenko stressed that "Russia is interested in cooperation with Intel because, alongside economic benefits (creation of new jobs, tax revenues etc.) such interaction improves the production culture, personnel qualifications and the quality if life." He assured partners of readiness to continue negotiations after getting specific proposals.
