MOSCOW, January 26 (RIA Novosti) - Russia's president Vladimir Putin instructed the Russian government to think of a possibility to extend a state intergovernmental credit to Belarus to pay for the gas supplies.

Putin said this while opening the traditional Monday conference with the members of the Cabinet of Ministers.

"I talked to Mikhail Kasyanov about it, he did not object, and promised to think it over", Putin said. "But since he is on leave, I instruct Khristenko and Kudrin (two Vice-Premiers) to consider and decide this question in such a way that communal (gas) consumers and enterprises in Belarus would not have any problems."

"I talked to Lukashenko twice on the question of gas. He confirmed readiness to switch over to market relations with the Russian gas suppliers," the president of Russia said.
