MYSKINA ADVANCES TO QUARTERFINALS OF AUSTRALIAN OPEN

JAKARTA, January 26 (RIA Novosti) - Anastasia Myskina of Russia advanced to the quarterfinals of the Australian Open which has $19 million in prize money.

On Monday Myskina, who is Russia's best woman player and ranked seventh in the world, beat Chanda Rubin of the USA in the fourth round.

Rubin won the intensely fought first set, 7-6 (7-3). However, Myskina took control of the match and won the next two sets, 6-2, 6-2.

Myskina is the only Russian woman to qualify for the Australian Open quarterfinals where she will play the formidable Kim Clijsters of Belgium who defeated Silvia Farina-Elia of Italy, 6-3, 6-3 on Monday.
