YEREVAN, JANUARY 25 (RIA Novosti corr. Hamlet Matevosyan) - Four winners of a Best Russian-Language Teacher contest in Armenia are coming to Moscow to compete with counterparts from all across the Commonwealth of Independent States (January 25 to 30), Gurgen Barikyan, Director of the Armenian Center for Russian Language Development, said Saturday.

Along with the Center, the contest's co-organizers include the Russian Embassy to Armenia and the Armenian Ministry of Science & Education.

According to Marina Kalacheva, Culture Attache at the Russian Embassy in Yerevan, the embassy actively promotes the study and development of the Russian language in Armenia as this is not just a language for transnational communication, but also a window into Russian culture. With this in mind, the Russo-Armenian (Slavic) University has set up an Institute of Russian Literature. It gives its top students an opportunity to continue their education at prestigious higher educational establishments in Russia.
