MOSCOW, January 23 /RIA Novosti/ - There will be no tax amnesty in Russia in the near future, minister of economic development and trade German Gref told journalists on Friday.

"I do not reject such a decision but there are no such plans for the short-term perspective," the minister said.

According to Mr. Gref, experts of his Ministry are now studying international experience, Belgian in particular where a relevant law was enacted recently. "We have to decide as for efficiency of such approaches. The existing international experience does not show radical positive results," Gref stressed. He reminded journalists that with the estimated sum of $150-180 billion brought out of the country, Belgium expected to return only $10-15 billion.

The head of the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade believes that tax amnesty will not be "a universal remedy." This is just an addition to a set of other measures. It is only necessary to choose proper methods and the moment of time when this can be done," the minister concluded.
