JAKARTA, January 23 (RIA Novosti correspondent) -- Vera Zvonareva of Russia advanced to the fourth round of the Australian Open which has $19 million in prize money.
On Friday the 11th seeded Russian beat Nicole Pratt of Australia in just under two hours, 7-5, 2-6, 6-1. Ms. Zvonareva's opponent made twice as many unforced errors as she did. The Russian had 36 winners whereas the Australian only had 15.
Ms. Zvonareva qualified for the fourth round where she will face Lindsay Davenport of the USA who is number five in the world.
Svetlana Kuznetsova, another Russian, failed to advance past the third round. She lost the number one player in the world, Justine Hanin-Hardenne of Belgium, 2-6, 5-7.
