"If the Russian side has questions, nothing stands in the way of our having a meeting to discuss what needs to be done by both sides", David Gulia, deputy head of the Georgian department, said to RIA Novosti. This was his comment on the utterances by Alexander Yakovenko, official spokesman for the Russian Foreign Ministry, that "the security of the border with Georgia is a priority problem for Russia".
"We have good relations with our Russian fellow-border guards. Regular meetings are held at different levels -- between the commanders of the border-guard troops, chiefs of staffs and border-guard units - and all problems are resolved in the operative way", Gulua said.
He also noted that the current situation on the Chechen section of the Georgian-Russian border is now stable.
