MOSCOW, January 22nd, 2004 (RIA Novosti correspondent) - When receiving credentials from Yemen's ambassador in the Kremlin, Russian President Vladimir Putin noted that Russia highly assessed its friendly relations with Yemen. "Their rich background is over 75 years old. Undoubtedly, we have some good and considerable reserves for active co-operation in nearly all areas, especially in the trade and economic areas," said Vladimir Putin.

Addressing the ambassador of the United Arab Emirates, the Russian head of state remarked that "Russia's expanding contacts with the United Arab Emirates are taking place in a friendly atmosphere of mutual understanding." "We can see good prospects for bringing Russian-UAE ties to a higher level, and for consolidating interaction in international affairs," he said.
