PRO-PUTIN CANVASSING LISTS MAY ARRIVE TO CENTRAL ELECTION COMMISSION TOMORROW, JANUARY 23

MOSCOW, JANUARY 22. /RIA NOVOSTI CORRESPONDENT NIKOLAI MAKAROV/ -- The group of voters backing Vladimir Putin's self-promotion for second-term presidency may submit canvassing lists in the second half of Friday, Alexander Veshnyakov, head of the Russian Central Election Commission, has said on Thursday.

"It is, so far, a preliminary information", Veshnyakov said to RIA Novosti.

He added that, "in obtaining information, around January 26 speaker of the upper chamber of parliament Sergei Mironov is ready to hand in canvassing lists through representatives of the Party of Life, which has nominated him for presidency".

According to law, a presidential candidate shall present 2 million signatures in favour to the CEC before 18:00, Moscow time, on January 28.
