    MOSCOW, January 22 (RIA Novosti) - The official representative of the Foreign Ministry, Alexander Yakovenko announced that the security of the border with Georgia is a top priority for Russia.

    "A secure Russian-Georgian border is a top priority," Mr. Yakovenko stressed. "In view of that, we anticipate that Tbilisi will undertake concrete and effective measures to curtail the terrorist threat seeping from its territory." According to Mr. Yakovenko, the antiterrorism issue continues to play a pivotal role in the relations between the two nations.

    "In its relations with Georgia, Russia continues to follow the principle of restoring a friendly, neighborly partnership and hopes that the new Georgian leadership will do everything in its power to make this possible," Mr. Yakovenko said.
