MOSCOW, January 21, 2004. /RIA Novosti/. "A View of a Port", a painting by Karl Bryullov, the famous Russian artist of the 19th century, purchased by the Russian President's reserve fund, undergoes restoration in the Tretyakov Gallery, Moscow. Soon this painting will be exhibited in one of Russian museums, head of the Russian President's economic department Anton Danilov-Danilyan told journalists on Wednesday.
This is already the second painting by a Russian artist purchased by the reserve fund in 2003, he said.
"A View of a Port", the only landscape by portrait painter Bryullov, was purchased for 6,125,000 dollars in Portugal, Danilov-Danilyan said.
It is not ruled out that in 2004 the reserve fund will make another purchase under the programme of restoration of Russia's cultural heritage, he noted.
