RUSSIAN DEPUTY PREMIER POINTS TO IMPORTANCE OF DEVELOPING INTEGRATED COMMUNICATION AND NAVIGATION SYSTEM

MOSCOW, January 21 (RIA Novosti correspondent Andrei Malosolov) - Russian Deputy Prime Minister Boris Alyoshin has pointed to the importance of developing an integrated communication and navigation system.

"Those who form such systems within the next 20 years will become world economic leaders," he said at the ceremony of awarding the government quality prize.

Alyoshin called for paying attention to the action of the EU and the USA to form new principles of development for national industrial conglomerates.

"The European Union and the USA at present are forming new principles of development for national industrial conglomerates and we should pay special attention to it," he said.

According to him, Russia is now the most competitive and leads such spheres as space, aviation, nuclear physics, biology, material science. "These are basic industries that will ensure the country's competitiveness on the world markets," the Deputy Prime Minister emphasized.

On Wednesday Alyoshin awarded the government's 2003 quality prizes in the House of Government. The awards were given to eight enterprises and organizations.

"Increased quality of production is one of the priorities to ensure our competitiveness on the world markets," Alyoshin underlined at the ceremony.
