NEW DELHI, January 20 (RIA Novosti) - Russian Defense Minister Sergei Ivanov currently visiting India has not ruled it out that Russian, Indian and Chinese foreign ministry representatives might meet in 2004 to discuss security in the Asia-Pacific region.

The improving political climate of the Indian-Chinese relations is an important positive trend. This allows trilateral contacts between Russian, Chinese and Indian foreign ministries on the Asia-Pacific problems to be expected already this year, said Ivanov.

Security in the Asia-Pacific region, in this largest and the most unstable region of the world, will largely depend on our cooperation. Arms race is the most intensive here, and the number and composition of the army is growing most rapidly in the Asia-Pacific region," said the minister.
