UN UNDER-SECRETARY-GENERAL FOR HUMANITARIAN AFFAIRS WILL VISIT INGUSHETIA AND CHECHNYA

GENEVA, January 20 (RIA Novosti correspondent Yekaterina Andrianova) - UN Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator Jan Egeland will visit Ingushetia and Chechnya (Russian republics in the North Caucasus) at the end of January, President of Ingushetia Murat Zyazikov said on Monday.

Egeland's visit will start on January 27, he added.

"He will arrive in Ingushetia and will spend there a day, next morning he will go to Chechnya, and then will return to Ingushetia," said Zyazikov. "In Chechnya he will visit the government; his meeting with the President of the Chechen Republic has also been scheduled." On Monday the Ingush President had a number of meetings with high ranking officials of the United Nations and other international structures in Geneva. He discussed with them the question of returning forced migrants to Chechnya from Ingushetia.
