GEORGIA: RUSSIA'S FOREIGN MINISTER TO ATTEND PRESIDENTIAL INAUGURATION

MOSCOW, JANUARY 19, 2004. /RIA NOVOSTI/ -- Igor Ivanov, Russia's Minister of Foreign Affairs, will visit Georgia, January 25, to attend a presidential inauguration ceremony and hold conference with new President Mikhail Saakashvili, reports the Ministry of Foreign Affairs press and information department.

Colin Powell, US Secretary of State, Christian Poncelet, France's Senate President, and spokesmen of many international organisations are expected to attend the inauguration.

Russia's President Vladimir Putin forwarded a congratulatory message to Mikhail Saakashvili, January 15, and confirmed his invitation for a visit to Russia. The date will be appointed later on through diplomatic channels.
