    IN INDIA RUSSIAN DEFENCE MINISTRY PLANS TO SIGN BIGGEST MILITARY CONTRACT IN WORLD HISTORY

    NEW DELHI, JANUARY 19, 2004. /RIA NOVOSTI/ -- On Monday Russian Defence Minister Sergei Ivanov has arrived in India on an official visit. As it's expected, following the talks with his Indian colleague George Fernandes, the largest in world history contract - the sale of the Russian heavy aircraft-capable cruiser the Admiral Gorshkov - will be signed on Tuesday, January 20. The contract is estimated at over $1.5 billion.

    On the same day, Sergei Ivanov is scheduled to meet with the chiefs of staffs of the fighting services of the Indian armed forces.

    In addition, on Tuesday Sergei Ivanov will lay flowers at the eternal flame at the Gates of India memorial.

    Also on Tuesday, he will meet with Indian Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee and his national security adviser Brajesh Mishra, as well as Vice-Premier Lal Krishna Advani.

    After the official part of the visit, the Russian Defence Minister plans flying on Wednesday, January 21, to Agra, Uttar Pradesh, where he will visit the training centre of the 50th independent parachute brigade.

    On the same day, Sergei Ivanov plans going back to Moscow.
