PARIS, JANUARY 18 (RIA Novosti) - Russia's Kamaz Master team has won the truck category of the Telefonica Dakar rally.
Vladimir Tchaguine, in a Kamaz, finished first with a time of 68 hours 13.5 minutes. Teammate Firdaus Kabirov placed second, 53.38 behind. The Dutchman Gerardus de Rooy, of DAF, claimed third place, 1:28.28 down. Russia's Ilgizar Mardeyev marked his Dakar debut with fourth place.
The 26th Dakar rally started off in Paris on January 1 and ended January 18 in the Senegalese capital of Dakar, with 563 racers from 38 nations taking part. It spans 11,163.6 kilometers and seven countries, including France, Spain, Morocco, Mauritania, Mali, Burkina Faso, and Senegal.
