ROSTOV-ON-DON, January 16, (RIA Novosti correspondent Sofia Brykanova) The Russian forces group in Transcaucasia "will thwart any attempt to capture its armaments and material resources" in Georgia, said Vladimir Boldyrev, Commander of the North-Caucasus Military District, who spoke to the media this Friday.

He was asked whether he expected provocations from aggressive opponents of Russian military presence in Georgia.

Boldyrev referred to those talking about possible terrorist acts against Russian troops in Transcaucasia, as "hotheads." He emphasized that Russia held a "firm" position and had "clear-cut plans" on the issue: The two Russian military bases in Batumi and Akhalkalaki will function until a relevant intergovernmental agreement is signed stipulating the specific conditions and terms of withdrawal (Russia insists on a ten-year moratorium).
