SO FAR, MOSCOW AND MINSK HAVE NOT AGREED ON SETTING UP JOINT GAS TRANSPORT VENTURE

MOSCOW, JANUARY 16. /RIA NOVOSTI / -- Russia and Belarus have not yet come to an agreement on establishing a joint gas transportation venture, Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Kasyanov said to journalists on Friday during a break in the negotiations with Belarussian Premier Sergei Sidorski.

The sides have only outlined the course of talks on the joint venture, Kasyanov said. And recalled that the talks are held between the economic entities - Gazprom and Beltransgaz. On the Belarussian side, the government is also involved.

"They are uphill talks", the Russian premier confessed. Simultaneously, he hopes that headway will be reached.
