PRESIDENTIAL REPRESENTATIVE BIDS FAREWELL TO CHINESE CONSUL GENERAL IN KHABAROVSK

KHABAROVSK, January 16 - (RIA Novosti correspondent Oleg Kulgin) - Consul General of the People's Republic of China, Chen Goping announced at a meeting with Russian presidential plenipotentiary in the Far Eastern federal district, Konstantin Pulikovsky, Friday that he is leaving his post in Khabarovsk (Far East) for a new assignment at the Chinese Embassy in Moscow.

According to the presidential plenipotentiary's press service, Mr. Pulikovsky thanked the consul general for organizing a visit to China for Russian government officials from the Far East and for facilitating a trip to the Harbin Trade Fair for Russian businessmen.

"Cooperation between our countries continues to strengthen. In the first half of the year we are expecting a number of high level delegations from China to discuss investment opportunities in the Far East," the presidential delegate said. "We are also planning to open a branch office of the Russian-Chinese Border Cooperation Committee in one of three cities: Khabarovsk, Vladivostok or Blagoveshchensk." Chen Goping expressed gratitude to Mr. Pulikovsky for his support through the years. "You have been extremely helpful in ensuring that the work of our embassy run smoothly. I will now be working in Moscow, but will continue to be actively involved in the Far Eastern territories' efforts to strengthen trade, economic and cultural ties between our countries," the consul general noted.
