TASHKENT SUMMIT TO ESTABLISH ORDER OF ADMISSION OF NEW SCO MEMBERS

BEIJING, January 14, 2004. /RIA Novosti/. Documents on the order of admission of new members of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization /SCO/ will be adopted at the next summit of SCO heads of state in Tashkent, Uzbekistan's capital, SCO Executive Secretary Zhang Deguang told a press conference in Beijing on Thursday.

According to him, the organization is working on legal documents on the adoption of new members.

"The SCO is an open organization which is not involved in military unions and rejects confrontation," Zhang Deguang said.

The Shanghai Cooperation Organization will be developing cooperation with all the international organizations and countries for the sake of regional and international peace, stability, development and prosperity," he stressed.

"Many countries have already claimed their wish to cooperate with the SCO," Zhang Deguang added.

The Shanghai Cooperation Organization includes Russia, China, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan.
