MOSCOW, JANUARY 15. /RIA NOVOSTI / -- Russia's Federal Security Service (FSB) says that those guilty of mass pneumonia cases among draftees in Magadan will be punished.

"The investigation will be held with all the rigours and those guilty will face punishment", a spokesman for the FSB public relations centre has said to RIA Novosti.

He recalled that on fact of the overcooling and subsequent disease of several dozen draftees, one of whom has died, the Prosecutor General's Office, FSB and the Defence Ministry are carrying out an investigation.

The spokesman also said that a team of doctors has been sent from Moscow to help the victims.

"At the present moment, the ailing draftees are being given all the medical help required", he said.

A criminal case has been initiated on fact of the mass pneumonia cases among servicemen of the Magadan garrison and ensuing death of one of them, RIA Novosti learnt from the press service of Main Military Prosecutor's Office of Russia.

"Several dozen people are involved", he continued. The precise number is being ascertained.

The draftees have arrived to Magadan to do their stint in units of the North-Eastern regional border-guard department of the Russian FSB.

The Prosecutor's Office will establish those guilty of exposing the young people to cold. Supposedly, this happened while the Defence Ministry's aircraft following from the Moscow region to Magadan had numerous stopovers.
