MOSCOW, January 15, 2004 (RIA Novosti) - Russian President Vladimir Putin has demanded that members of the Federal Security Service (FSB) act in strict compliance with the law.
"When attending to violations in the financial sphere, members of the security agencies should remain strictly within the limits of their jurisdiction," the Russian president announced at a meeting with FSB officials.
"In the fight against crime, members of the security agencies must be undeviating in their principles and must observe the rights of subjects and citizens," the head of state noted.
"As a whole, the security system must be professional and competent in protecting honest entrepreneurs from criminal and administrative pressures," Putin said.
