GDP GROWTH IN RUSSIA TO OUTSTRIP GLOBAL ECONOMIC GROWTH, UN FORECASTS

NEW YORK, JANUARY 15, 2004. (RIA NOVOSTI CORRESPONDENT ANDREI LOSHCHILIN). In 2004, the global economic growth rates will increase by 2-3.5 percent, while those of the Russian aggregate GDP - by 5 percent. The UN report on the world economic situation and prospects for 2004 made public on Wednesday in New York gives such a forecast.

It points out that the economic growth rates on the whole in the countries of the former USSR will somewhat slow down and will make up 5.25 percent. But they will remain higher than in the countries of Western and Eastern Europe where the 4 percent growth is forecast.
