MOSCOW, January 15, 2004. (RIA Novosti) - Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Kasyanov is not satisfied with the progress in the fulfillment of the obligatory medical insurance system in the Russian Federation.

"In 1993 we started modernizing the medical insurance system. At that time the reform played a positive role. But today this system has become outdated and, unlike other economic reforms, it is considerably lagging behind," said Kasyanov, opening the first session of the government this year.

"We are still financing the number of beds in hospitals but not concrete medical services granted to the population," underscored the Prime Minister.
