MOSCOW, January 14 (RIA Novosti) - The president's press service announced that Vladimir Putin sent a telegram to Islam Karimov, the president of Uzbekistan, expressing his condolences in connection with the crashed Yak-40 plane.

The Uzbek Airlines' Yak-40, en route Termez-Tashkent, crashed Tuesday evening upon landing at Tashkent airport. Thirty-two passengers and five members of the crew were killed including the UN Resident Coordinator in Uzbekistan Richard Conroy.

According to preliminary reports, bad weather conditions caused the accident - thick fog had accumulated in the landing area.

President Karimov issued an order to create a government commission to investigate the causes of the crash.

The International Aviation Committee (IAC) has begun its investigation of the tragedy.
