Festive services will be held in Kursk churches. Kursk will also see a sacred procession with the icon of St. Seraphim.
The scheduled of festive events for 2004 will be approved in the near future, the Kursk eparchy told RIA Novosti.
St. Seraphim of Sarov was born to a merchant family. At the age of 24 he entered the Sarov monastery in the Nizhny Novgorod region and served there until his death in 1833. According to the legend, the saint cured thousands of people of physical and mental diseases.
The 100th anniversary of St. Seraphim's canonization was widely celebrated in Russia in summer 2003.
