RIGA, January 13. /RIA Novosti correspondent Anatoly Baranovsky/. Representatives of Latvia's Left-centrist parliamentary factions accused the country's education and science minister Karlis Sadurskis of lies and irresponsibility. The statement by the minister, where he laid responsibility for the arson of the building of the ministry of education and science on the public organizations coming out in defense of Russian schools, as well as the deputies of the Seim and the Riga Duma from Left-centrist parties, served as a pretext for this. The arson was carried out by unidentified persons, presumably national-Bolsheviks, in the morning of January 9.

"Accusing the staff of instigating anyone for extremism is lies in the spirit of Goebbels , " says the statement by the chairman of the parliamentary faction For Human Rights in a United Latvia, Yakov Pliner, made public on Tuesday.

"The statement of the minister has shown to the people of goodwill in Latvia and the world public once again that the Latvian ministry of education and science intends to carry on a forcible assimilation of Russian children ," notes the author of the statement. (The point at issue is the shift from teaching 60% of school time in Latvia's Russian schools to the Lettish language instead of the Russian - ").
