On Tuesday it became known that a group of officers and ex-officers of the state traffic police which registered stolen foreign-made cars was apprehended in Moscow.
"Today the acting Interior Ministry has made further progress in combating unlawful legalization in Russia of motor transport stolen from West European states," Nurgaliyev said.
Ten raids with the aim of searching and three withdrawals of documents are being done at job places of the suspects at present . Three officers have been detained," he said.
"It is for the first time that the criminal proceedings were instituted against ex-officers and officers of a car-registration department of Moscow's State Traffic Police. Abusing their powers this group during eighteen months unlawfully registered and thus legalized over 1,000 costly foreign-made cars that are on the international and customs wanted lists.
According to the acting minister at present Russia's Interiror Ministry is establishing contacts for interaction in this sphere with colleagues from West European states.
