RUSSIA, KAZAKHSTAN SUPPORT INTERNATIONAL EFFORTS FOR AFGHAN, IRAQI STABILITY

ASTANA, JANUARY 9, RIA NOVOSTI - Russia and Kazakhstan are vouching support for international efforts and closer teamwork toward Afghan and Iraqi economic and domestic political stability, Presidents Vladimir Putin of Russia and Nursultan Nazarbayev of Kazakhstan say in a joint statement.

The summiteers attach tremendous importance to global and regional security and stability. They denounce aggression, terrorism and separatism, whatever form these may take, as undermining countries' security and territorial integrity. The two Presidents confirm their determination for a closer foreign-political alliance and extensive team efforts to promote global and regional security.

Presidents Putin and Nazarbayev spoke up for further constructive work in the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation and the Collective Security Treaty Organisation, and for practical partnership and confidence building in Asia.

They called to step up constructive team efforts in the United Nations, OSCE and other international; organisations.

The Presidents confirmed their dedication to friendship and goodneighbourly partnership between countries of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS). They qualified promotion of partnership within the CIS, the EURASEC-Eurasian Economic Community, and the united economic environment as top priorities.
