GROZNY, JANUARY 9, RIA NOVOSTI - Federal forces stationed in Chechnya are updating tactics against suicide and other terror acts, says Army General Vyacheslav Tikhomirov, in command of the Russian Interior troops.

Emphasis will be now put on tracking down people connected to rebel gangs, and on preventing terror acts while they are being plotted, the general pointed out to commanders of the joint forces in the North Caucasus, as they held conference in Khankala today.

As far as General Tikhomirov knows, Chechen militants have shifted for now from active confrontation to mustering forces for further resistance.

He highlighted efficient teamwork of secret services and other law enforcement agencies as they are liquidating bandit formations. The efforts are the greatest success in Grozny, Chechen capital.

Commandos are acting in small mobile reconnaissance units to track down terrorists in Chechnya. Federals are not using heavy arms. The tactic will persist in the future, said General Tikhomirov.
