ASTANA, JANUARY 9, RIA NOVOSTI - Russia's President Vladimir Putin has arrived in Kazakhstan on a two-day official visit. President Nursultan Nazarbayev of the host country met him at the airport of Astana, Kazakh capital. After a greeting ceremony, the heads of state went to the presidential palace for bilateral negotiations, to be followed by signing documents, and a joint news conference.
The two Presidents will attend a gala opening of Russia Year in Kazakhstan tonight.
Accompanying President Putin on his visit are Victor Khristenko, Russia's Deputy Prime Minister; Sergei Prikhodko, deputy chief of Kremlin staff; and the Ministers of Railways, Power Industry and Culture.
