MALYSHKIN REGISTERED AS PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE

MOSCOW, January 8 (RIA Novosti) - The Russian Central Election Commission registered Oleg Malyshkin nominated by Russia's Liberal Democratic Party as a presidential candidate.

So the LDPR representative became the first candidate to be entitled to participate in the elections of the head of state. The LDPR that passed the 5% barrier at parliamentary elections does not have to collect signatures to support its presidential candidate.

CEC chairman Alexander Veshnyakov gave 50-year-old Malyshkin a registration card. Veshnyakov said the LDPR representative properly registered and provided all necessary documents.

Malyshkin told journalists that the party won't let down its voters and thanked party leader Vladimir Zhirinovsky who was present at the registration ceremony. He also said he will surely take part in televised debates of presidential hopefuls.
