TBILISI, JANUARY 6, 2003. (RIA NOVOSTI) -- The new programme of preparing Georgian servicemen with US support will begin in May 2004, head of the main personnel directorate of the Georgian defence ministry, Brigade General Dmitry Lezhava told Novosti-Gruziya agency.
Within the framework of the US Education and Equipment programme four Georgian army battalions, frontier units and power structures' officers have been prepared in accordance with western standards. The programme is to be completed in May this year.
The understanding to begin a new programme of the same character has already been reached, but the issue should be finally settled by the new Georgian leaders," the general pointed out.
