WASHINGTON, January 06, 2004. /RIA Novosti/ -- The service of the on-ground control informed the Russo-American crew of the International Space Station (ISS) that they have detected and currently observe a slight decrease of the air pressure on board of the station.

"The pressure does not exceed 0.04 pounds on square inch per day and thus does not affect the work of the station and does not pose danger to the crew," the press-service of the NASA (Houston, Texas) reported.

On Monday evening US astronaut Michael Foale and Russian flight engineer Aleksander Kaleri checked all sectors and valves of the station and discovered nothing unusual.

The ISS crew and the on-ground control service are expected to continue observing the air pressure on board of the station on Tuesday.
